Esther F. Mares

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Esther Mares, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Esther was born on August 30, 1933, in Colorado to Rev. Emilio and Grace Mares.  She married Santos A. Garcia in 1953 and raised seven beautiful children.  She worked in the food industry and as a talented seamstress.  She had a love of cooking making hundreds of dozen tamales and tortillas for family and friends during the holidays and special celebrations. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Rev. Emilio and Grace Mares, husband Santos A. Garcia; Partners, Ralph Mendez, and Pablo Rodriguez; two sons, Ted Garcia and Buddy Troncoso; two grandchildren, Nathan Garcia, Sr. and Josh Garcia; one great-great grandchild, Alexandra Garcia; and one brother, Larry Mares.  She is survived by her siblings William Mares, Ruth Dominguez, and Connie Buyse; children, Santos (Lilly) Garcia, Berta Mendias, Billie Garcia, Tracy (Bill) Trujillo, Lisa Ramirez, and Jody (Cathy) Garcia; 23 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the care givers for their compassion and support during Esther’s final days.
