Floyd Robley Obituary

Floyd Scott Robley, age 92, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1933, in Lyons, NE, to Glen Scott Robley and Edna Mae (Conger) Robley.

Floyd grew up in Lyons. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1951 and continued his education at the Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha, NE, graduating in 1952.

Later that same year, Floyd returned to Lyons and opened a radio and television sales and service business. In 1953, he volunteered for military service in the United States Army, serving until 1956, and spending most of that time stationed in Germany.

After completing his military service, Floyd returned to Lyons and resumed his electronics business. In the 1960s, he expanded his work by starting an earthmoving and excavation company, which he operated successfully into the 1980s.

In 1985, Floyd married Doris Marie (Hamm) Robley. The couple made their home in Elm Creek, NE, where Floyd worked for the Sandhills Whooping Crane Trust. In that role, he operated heavy equipment to clear vegetation and help create nesting areas for sandhill cranes, contributing to conservation efforts in the region.

Following that work, Floyd pursued locksmithing, which soon became his true passion. He and Doris later moved to Nebraska City, NE, where they opened A-1 Locksmith. Floyd became widely respected for his expertise, particularly his skill in safecracking, and was often called upon to open safes for banks and businesses throughout the area. He greatly enjoyed the work and continued locksmithing well into his retirement years.

After retiring, Floyd and Doris moved to Ft. Lupton, CO. Floyd spent the final months of his life in a care facility in Brighton, CO.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Doris Robley; his son, Larry Robley; his daughter, Debra (Robley) Maly; his step daughter, Rhonda Kraus; his brother, Keith G. Robley, a stillborn, unnamed baby brother; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
