Frederico V. Mecillas, 71, of Wattenberg, Colorado, passed away on January 10, 2018 in Greeley, Colorado.
Frederico was born in Cimarron, New Mexico, on October 5, 1946 to Juan and Carman (Medina) Mecillas. Frederico lived most of his life in Wattenberg, graduating from Brighton High School in 1965. He married Ramona Galicia in Brighton on July 9, 1965. He worked for Juan & Son Construction prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked at Sunrise Pastries and then worked at Central Products, retiring after fifteen years in 2004.
Frederico was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, in Wattenberg. He enjoyed working in his yard and helping his community as a handyman. He loved to bowl and was an avid Bronco fan. His name has been listed on the City of Brighton Vietnam Veteran Wall.
Survivors include, his mother, Carmen Mecillas of Wattenburg; wife, Romona Mecillas of Wattenberg; daughters: Tina (Andy) Hernandez and Cathy (Alen) Garcia, both of Wattenburg; son Fred (Christi) Mecillas Jr. of Brighton; brothers: Juan (Gin) Mecillas of Mesa, Arizona, Cid (Clara) Mecillas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albert (Joy) Mecillas and Ben Mecillas, both of Wattenburg, and Ted (Trish) Mecillas, of Fort Lupton; sisters: Lupe Gallegos, of Denver and Candy (Luis) Madrid of Wattenburg; survivors include, eight Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
