Gregory "Greg" Case Obituary

Gregory “Greg” Alan Case, AKA Big Dog, passed away on March 9, 2026, with his loving wife by his side, just shy of his 70th birthday.

Greg was born on April 20, 1956, at Mercy Hospital to Leonard and Luanne Case. He was raised in Brighton on the family dairy farm alongside his three brothers and a large, lively circle of cousins. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1974 and proudly remained an active member of the Elks Lodge from 1981 to current.

After high school, Greg studied hydraulics and pneumatics at Red Rocks Community College and began his career at Samsonite as a machine mechanic. During his 24 years there, he built countless memories and friendships; one of which became the love of his life, Diana. With a bit of coaxing and unwavering determination, Greg convinced her to go out on a date and two years later, she convinced him to put a ring on it, and together they would have celebrated 38 years of marriage in May.

Greg later continued his career in the plastic injection molding industry. If something was broken or needed fixing, Greg was the one to call. He could repair anything and everything, and he took great pride in being that dependable person for others.

The greatest joy of Greg’s life was his granddaughter, Adaeze, his “treasure beyond measure.” Watching her grow into the strong young woman she is today brought him immeasurable happiness.

Beyond his love for family, Greg was an outdoor enthusiast who cherished time spent with those he loved. Each year began with snowmobiling and ice fishing. When the snow melted, camping and four‑wheeling season began, where he earned the affectionate title of “fire god.” Hunting season followed, and if the day was slow, he’d insist the boys in his truck listen to his lucky Hank Williams Jr. CD, Gonna Go Huntin’ Tonight.

Greg also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing cards; especially Texas Hold’em, where he won a couple of trophies and, quite possibly, a small fortune. He loved traveling, whether to the mountains or to Belize, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Lake Havasu.

A proud Colorado native, Greg was a devoted Broncos fan. And if you could ever get the Energizer Bunny to slow down, he loved relaxing with an old Western, especially anything starring John Wayne.

Greg is survived by his wife, Diana (Sarmiento) Case; daughter Angel Lovato (Shawn Delgado); granddaughter Adaeze Adams (Sergio Dela Cruz); father Leonard Case; brothers Gary Case (Terri Irsik), Ken Case (Stephanie), and Randy Case (Kim); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Luanne Case.
