Irene L Antuna

   Irene was born December 6th, 1951 to Clara Garcia Gonzales (De Luna) and Lazaro M. Lopez in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.  She spent some of her childhood in Lubbock, Texas eventually moving Ault, Colorado with her family.  For a good part of her life, she was raised by her grandparents Prudencio and Susie Gonzales. That resulted in her being treated as a sister in the family. Siblings were Hope, Manuel (Manny) Joaquina (Jose) Consuelo, Prudencio Jr., Carolyn, Alfred (Tanya), Juanita, and Jose. She was also sister to Amelia, Christina (Art) and Alicia.

   She finished her schooling and then married. Out of that marriage came daughter Melissa and sons Manny and Jason (Jennifer). 

Later in her life, she met and married Rick Antuna on July 31, 1999.  Rick brought to the marriage a son Ricardo (Raelene) and together they had John Paul (Casey).  From their five children came grandchildren; Erika, Heather, Emanuel (Little Manny), Drak, Rico, Alicia (Corey), Cyrus, Michael, Ethan, Krista, Elijah, Kingston (Kingy) and Zoiemae Irene.  She was also blessed to have six great grandchildren. 

   She worked many jobs throughout her life, but the one that she was most proud of was her employment at the Fort Lupton police department where she worked from September 1985 through May of 2000.  She worked in the area of communications where she advanced her way up to supervisor. 

    Her many joys in life included spending time with family and friends especially during the holidays where she enjoyed cooking and hosting them. A special part of her life was the love and affection she had for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

    On June 22, 2008, she joined and became an active member of the Healing Place Church in Brighton Colorado.  Then on May 2012, she started to work in the food pantry at the church. Eventually she was asked to oversee the food pantry ministry. This year on May 22nd 2022, the food pantry was renamed in her honor “Irene Antuna's Food Pantry at the Healing Place Church”.  

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Healing Place Church P.O. BOX 861 Brighton, Colorado, 80601 in Irene’s name, in care of the food pantry.
