Irene Ann (Urban) Junglas of Brighton, Colorado, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, nurse, died November 15, 2025. She was 94 years old.
A coal miner’s daughter from the mountain town of Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, Irene was born September 25, 1931 to parents Anthony J. Urban and Kathryn Marion Walinchus, alongside her sister Lois (deceased) and brother Anthony J. Urban of Ashland, Pennsylvania.
Irene grew up in a small Lithuanian community in Pennsylvania, where she spoke and attended a Lithuanian school. She was trained as a registered nurse at Easton Hospital, Pa. where she met her tall, dark, and handsome future husband, Vincent George Junglas (predeceased). They married June 27, 1954 after he graduated from Embry-Riddle flight school in Florida.
They have 3 children, Kathryn, Sharon (Alan) Klug, and Vincent. Irene went on to a dedicated career as head nurse at Long Beach Hospital in Long Beach, New York where the family lived until 1970, when Irene and Vince moved their family to Denver, Colorado. Vince worked a life-long career as a mechanic for United Airlines. Irene worked as a nurse at Rocky Mountain Osteopathic Hospital in Denver.
Irene changed up her career and worked in real estate in Brighton. She eventually returned to caregiving in a nursing home.
Irene was an artist and musician—a painter and organist. She enjoyed travel and many generations of cats, her grandchildren, Heather, Vincent, Jessica, Aaron, Christopher, and Leah and great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Vincent, Kimber and Ada.
Irene loved Colorado, living in the Wild West, nature, fishing, gambling, especially gambling in Central City and Blackhawk with her friends. And THE BEACH where the entire family’s best and most fun years were spent.
Irene was a very generous woman and fair-minded mother and a devoted Catholic. She shared all she had with her family and friends. We all won the lottery! She was the best and most beautiful mom ever!
