Jack Henry Michel, 65, of Brighton passed away on June 3, 2005 at Brighton Care Center. He was born on October 9, 1939 in Brighton to Henry & Lydia (Fahnenstiel) Michel. Jack grew up in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School in 1958. He worked bridge construction and later took up farming. One of his jobs was building the dam in Grandby, Colorado. He finally settled on a career of building homes in the Brighton area. He worked fro HKS and later built homes on his own.
Jack was a member of the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department, joining in April, 1970 and retiring in 1991 after 20 years of service. He had been a command officer for 12 years, becoming Fire Chief in 1980-1981. He was on the Fire Board from 1984-1994. Jack was honored by being Fireman of the Year and received another Jaycee Award during his active years on the department. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking and spending time with his children.
Jack is survived by his wife Jerrilyn McEntire; children Rex of Grand Lake, Cynthia Seader of Grand Lake & Laurie Michel of Brighton; son-in-law Charlie Seader of Grand Lake & granddaughter Cheree Seader. His brother Robert (Irene) Michel along with 3 nephews also survive him. Other family members are Mother-in-law Twila McEntire & several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton.
