Jacob "Jake" Schissler, 89, was born May 31, 1927 to Jacob and Eva (Busch) Schissler in Henderson, Colorado. He graduated from Brighton High School May 30, 1945 and on May 31, 1945 he entered the US Navy and served on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock as a Gunners Mate.
After his discharge from the Navy in 1946 he attended Mesa College in Grand Junction, graduating with a degree in Business. He worked for Swift & Co. in Denver from 1950-1966. After Swift and Co. closed he was hired by the Unites States Department of Agriculture as a Meat Inspector. He retired from the USDA in 1994.
Jacob is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Schissler of Ft. Lupton; his son, Glen (Paula) Schissler of Spring, TX; three granddaughters, Jennifer LaTrielle, Crystal LaTrielle and Madison Schissler; one grandson, Jacob Schissler and two great-grandsons, Aiden LaTrielle and Collin LaTrielle.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Schissler in 2007; his parents; three sisters, Evelyn, Elise Irene and Virginia and four brothers, Jacob, Jr., Edward, Leo Elmer and Vernon.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00pm at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
