James Wattenberg Obituary

Jim was one of six children born to Henry and Louise Wattenberg. His family lived and grew up on the Wattenberg Family Farm near Fort Lupton where Jim and his siblings would work before and after school. Jim graduated from Fort Lupton Consolidated High School in 1951.

Jim was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He met and married his wife, Mona on May 10, 1963. Together with the children from their previous marriages they raised six children.

Jim had several different careers throughout his life including farming, working at Pepper Packing Plant, and retiring from Safeway Milk Plant as a Mechanical Engineer. Jim was hard working in everything he did and would often spend his weekends driving to Henderson from Thornton to build their dreamhouse.

When he was not working on his garden, tending to his horses, or fixing anything and everything around the house he enjoyed bowling, fishing, elk hunting, camping and anything outdoors. Rarely would you find Jim sitting inside when the sun was still up. And if he did not have enough to do, he was always willing and able to help anyone out that needed it but most importantly his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mona, his children Randy(Linda) Wattenberg, Denise Sweikatun, Les (Mariah) Wattenberg, Lori (Greg) Fiandaco, and Dani (Kevin) Minner, his grandchildren Adela, Carrie, Dustin, Olivia, Trevor, Sierra, Summer, Whitney, and Alona, great-grandchildren Lexy, Tony, Rocco, Gianna, Victoria, Sullivan, Harlow, Harper, Casey, Christian, Harper, Maggie Kate, Grayson, Judah, Azaliah, Eliel and his sister Mary and brother Don and many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Allan, his brothers Robert and Fred, and his sister Florence.
