James Bieker
Jim Bieker, age 83, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away on March 6, 2026.
Jim was born in Denver, Colorado to Barney and Mary Bertha Bieker on November 1, 1942, and was the oldest of two children. Jim married the love of his life, Peggy Derr, on July 2, 1966.
Jim was a lifetime resident of Brighton, except for his time in the Navy. He joined the US Navy, after graduating from Brighton High School, and served as a radar technician on the USS Furse (DD-882), A Gearing-class destroyer, during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
Jim was a barber by trade and owned Palace Barber Shop in Brighton. Over the course of his career, he had the opportunity to meet and interact with many members of the community and took pride in and often talked about cutting the hair of multi-generations over his sixty years serving the community.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his wife and daughter DeAnne (DeeDee). They would travel with their fifth wheel trailer to the mountains and amusement parks across the country. He also enjoyed trips to Central City, Las Vegas and watching WWE wrestling. Later in life he enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and visiting his daughter and her family.
Jim is survived by his wife Peggy Bieker, brother Eugene (Kelly) Bieker, daughter DeAnne (Raffelle) Ciaravola, grandchildren Emilia (Ian) Anderson, Victoria (Ben) Steitz, A.J. Ciaravola, great grandchildren Olivia Anderson, Ezra Steitz and Eowyn Steitz. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his niece Stephanie George.
