James “Jim” Nelson
Jim was born in Santa Rosa, California on September 17, 1947. Jim was a retired army veteran of 24 years. He served in Vietnam, Korea, and the Persian Gulf. Initially trained as a medic, Jim was recognized for his skill and was later trained as a nurse in the field. Jim’s distinguished nursing career includes working at Fitsimmons Army Medical Center, DDRC, and lastly PASCO where he worked as a CNA instructor. It was during one of his CNA classes when he met his future wife, Marla. The two married on August 4, 2005, in a small but beautiful ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jim enjoyed playing golf, fishing and watching his favorite sports, NASCAR and football-he was a great Denver Broncos fan. Jim also enjoyed telling stories of his time stationed in Germany and about the adventures he had. He loved to grill and cook and provide for his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marla Nelson. His daughter, McKenna Nelson, and stepdaughters, Meghan and Jennifer Campbell. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Harrison Cambell. Jim devotedly cared for Harrison until his passing in September 2022. Jim Nelson, known for his gruff humor and roadrunner tattoo, will be remembered and deeply loved by his remaining family.
