Janet J. Mitchell, 72. of Brighton passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2026 surrounded by her family. Janet was born April 10, 1953, the oldest of three children born to Vernon and Hazel Wollert. Janet graduated from Brighton High School in 1971. She married Myron Lee Mitchell on June 16, 1979. During their 48 years of marriage they together had 2 daughters.
For 18 years, Janet worked as a Title Clerk for Colorado Auto Auction. After a career change Janet went to work as a deli clerk at the local Wal-mart for 16 years. While spending many years working in the automotive industry and customer service she retired in 2018. While enjoying retirement Janet liked going fishing, coloring, sitting out in the sun to watch the birds, watching her favorite tv shows and spending time with her family.
Janet was very well loved by many. She was a hard worker and caring for her family was her first priority. She was a hardworking wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Myron L. Mitchell, and daughters Amanda Mitchell (Star Rosas ) and Nicole (Francisco) Archuleta, of Brighton CO, and her grandson Edward Archuleta of Brighton, CO. (He was very special to her). She is also survived by her brothers Robert (Marcie) Wollert of Brighton, CO and Kirk (Lisa) Wollert of Brighton, CO. Janet is also survived by her cousins Dick Wollert and Shawna Carey and many nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by parents Vernon and Hazel Wollert, her grandparents George Edward and Amelia (Ritter) Pittington, Carl and Odella (Stricker) Wollert.
Janet was a very respectable lady and will be missed by all of her friends, family and those closest to her.
Celebration of life will take place at the Brighton's Elks Lodge 101 N Main St. in Brighton on Sunday March 8, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm.
