Jerry Krantz Obituary

Jerry Lee Krantz, age 77, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away on March 3, 2026, at TRU Community Hospice Center in Longmont, Colorado.

Jerry was born on November 19, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to Alex and Dorothy Krantz. He was the oldest of four siblings: Linda (Herb) Gleim, Sharon (Stephen) Wilczek, and Debbie Lucero, and spent most of his life in the Brighton area.

As a young man, he enjoyed sports and played both football and baseball while attending Brighton High School, graduating in 1967. In January 1968, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country and also played football for the Navy team. He served until August 1969, when he was honorably discharged after sustaining an injury during his service.

After returning home, Jerry continued his love for baseball and played first base on a semi-professional team that went on to win their league championship for many years. On September 15, 1973, he married Sharlene Edwards, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.

Jerry spent most of his working career as an HVAC sheet metal installer, a trade he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 2009.

In 1978, Jerry accepted Christ into his life, a decision that shaped his faith and outlook in the years that followed. His family takes comfort in knowing that on March 3rd, heaven’s gates opened to welcome him home.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Krantz and Dorothy Monson.

He is remembered by his wife of 52 years, Sharlene Krantz; his sisters, Linda (Herb) Gleim, Sharon (Stephen) Wilczek, and Debbie Lucero; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
