Jerry Luna, a true Colorado original, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughs, and a whole lot of memories. Born in Brighton, Colorado, and raised in Roggen, Jerry was proud of his roots and carried that hometown spirit with him wherever he went. He attended Weld Central High School and stayed a Brighton guy at heart.
Jerry was the kind of person you didn’t forget — goofy, hard‑headed (very hard‑headed), and always ready with a joke or a smart comment when you least expected it. He had a big heart, even if he didn’t always show it the soft way, and he was happiest doing things his own way. Jerry enjoyed his alone time, but those who were lucky enough to be close to him knew how deeply he cared.
He loved the simple things in life: bowling nights, fishing trips, tossing horseshoes, drawing, playing his guitar, and admiring — and collecting — classic cars. If there was music playing, a fishing line in the water, or an old car nearby, Jerry was right where he wanted to be.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Lea Luna (Marcus), and his beloved grandchildren Ayden Ramirez and Ava Ramirez. He is also survived by his sisters Christine Luna, Elaine Martinez (David), Ruby Luna, and Eileen Luna, and his brother Jeff Luna (Teresa), along with many extended family members and loved ones.
He was welcomed into eternal peace by his parents, Christopher and Rose Luna; his brother, Roger Luna; his niece, Gina Luna; and his grandparents from the Stine and Luna families.
Though Jerry may have left this world, we believe he’s found a little peace on the other side — probably making someone laugh, doing things his own way, and keeping an eye on those he loves. He will be remembered for his humor, his stubborn streak, his kind heart, and for being, above all else, a genuinely good person.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
