Joaquin Sandoval Obituary

Joaquin "John" Sandoval, 75, of Brighton, Colorado passed away on April 20, 2006 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1931, in Roy, New Mexico to Lamberto and Isabel Aguilar (Huron) Sandoval.

John attended schools in Brighton, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

On September 14, 1957, John married the former Rose Fernandez in Brighton. He worked as a stainless steel polisher for Stainless Equipment Company for twenty-four years. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

John loved sports, especially the Rockies and the Denver Broncos. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion and boxed for the Army while he was stationed in Korea. Some of his other favorite pasttimes included watching his kids and grandkids play sports - or for that matter just following them wherever they went. John loved gardening and watching old Western shows and movies - especially John Wayne.

In addition to his wife Rose, John is survived by son James Atencio, Denver, CO., daughters Lorraine (Pino) Bachicha, Brighton, CO., Debbie (Nick) Fritz, Denver, CO., Gayleen Sandoval, Brighton, CO., and son Patrick (Joni) Sandoval, Brighton, CO.; brother Robert Sandoval, and sister Helen Sanchez, both of Thornton, CO.
He was preceded in death by a son Art Atencio in 1974 and a brother Joe Sandoval.

There will be a Rosary on Sunday, April 23, 2006, 7:00 P.M. at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 24, 2006, 1:00 P.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Brighton, Colorado. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
