John G (Jerry) Fleming

John Fleming Obituary

John Gerald (Jerry) Fleming was born on January 29, 1939 in Denver, Colorado. He was raised in Arvada and Denver, Colorado. John’s parents were John Rex Fleming and Bernice Beth Eggert-Fleming. He had two brothers; William Fleming and Stephen Fleming.

John served in the U.S. Navy between the years of 1956 – 1958.

John married Barbara Foster on December 18, 1959 and together they had 5 children; Kimberly Kay, John Ivan, Gerald Dean, Terri Jean, and Mindy Sue.

Jerry drove for Bob’s towing for a few years before working for Safeway for 35 years. He enjoyed driving, and retired in 2001.

He loved to go to races of all types, it started with Lakeside race track. He loved all types including USAC midgets, world outlaws, sprint cars, and the Indy cars. He traveled to several states to watch the races every year.

He loved fishing in Colorado in the Eagle River and surrounding areas. Jerry also loved to garden vegetables. He thought about his garden all year long would come up with some big ideas. He loved his vegetables, he loved to share them too. Jerry also loved to grill outdoors, that was his favorite, he loved to cook and would make up some crazy concoctions.

Jerry is survived by his bothers; William and Stephen Fleming, the mother of his children; Barbara Foster, daughters; Kimberly Foster, John Ivan (Tammy) Fleming, and Terri (Richard) Sellers. Eight Grandchildren; Rick (Jaquie) Foster, Lance Foster, John Allen Fleming, Amie (Marc) Sheck, Lisa Sellers, Russell (Christina) Wigginton, David (Katie) Wigginton, and Jamie Fleming, as well as 15 great grandchildren; Abigail, Edison, Zayd, Dawson, Giada, Carter, Presley, Xiomara, Jeremiah, Preston, David, Castile, Bella, Lee, and Miles.

He is also survived by his great friends; Sue Maurer, John and Aida, Natalie, and Vincent Medina. A special thanks to you all.

Preceded in death by parents, Rex and Bernice, Fleming, son, Gerald Dean (Jerry) Fleming and daughter, Mindy, Sue Wigginton 

Serviced will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on June 23, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.

Following the service, please join the family for the luncheon celebrating Jerry’s life from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 130 S. Eaton St. Lakewood, Colorado 80226
