John Whisenhunt Obituary

John Whisenhunt was born March 27, 1954, in Loveland, CO and entered into rest January 19, 2023, at 68 years old.  He grew up farming and ranching and was eager to share the country lifestyle with anyone interested in knowing it. He loved teaching friends, family and strangers alike, how important farming and ranching is to the world. In addition to the importance of it, he loved sharing how fun and rewarding life on the farm is.

John worked construction in various facets most of his life. His knowledge, influence and supervision helped build amazing things, such as the Budweiser plant and the 20th Street viaduct. His skill and ingenuity created beautiful structures, remodels, landscaping and yard décor, and many other amazing things over the years.

To speak of John and not talk about his love for family would be unjust. His family meant everything to him. It did not matter how you were related (or not actually related), if he loved you, you were part of John’s “family.” He loved hunting and fishing with the family. Despite his keen hunting skills, he always wanted to make sure everyone with him got a good shot before taking his. The number of children (and adults) he taught to bait a hook is immeasurable. One of his favorite things to do was host pig roasts and parties. His home was always open for family to gather for any reason and if you left hungry it was your own fault. In addition, he was known to take those parties on the road with a homemade, hitched roaster. Most memories shared of John have a pig roast in them.

He is preceded in death by his wife Karren Whisenhunt, daughter Janee Jiron, mother Ruth Pace and brother Jeff Whisenhunt. He is survived by daughters Millisa, Penny and Mindy, step-son Wally, siblings Alan Bork (Jeani), Larry Miller (Joy), Maudie Ryan, Jesse Forrest (Toni), and Bill Sanders (Sandi), and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John will always be remembered for his loving, giving nature, booming laugh and bright smile.
