Juanita Montoya, 89 of Firestone, passed away February 20, 2020 with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Manual and Cleotilda Luna in Boulder, Colorado and attended the Brighton public school system. She married the late Ruben Montoya in 1947 and lived in Fort Lupton for over 30 years. Juanita was predeceased by daughter Emma Vermillion and is survived by 3 children: Leo Montoya (Wendy) of Johnstown, Shirley Martinez (Bernie) of Firestone and Betty Dannenberg of Broomfield. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Coleen Vasquez, Justin Montoya, Brandon Montoya, Shauntina Martinez, Monica Martinez, Dominic Martinez, Teo Martinez, Brandy Vice, Taylor Dannenberg and Parker Dannenberg. She was also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Juanita was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who always had a smile on her face. She loved cooking, walking and working on jigsaw puzzles. Juanita was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Tabor Rice Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Ave in Brighton. A reception will follow the memorial at the Knights of Columbus hall, 1096 E Bridge St, Brighton, .
