Judith Ann Graham Freund, born June 2, 1940, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Feb 1, 2025. She was born in Webb City, Mo. to George and Mary Ann (Hughes) Graham, joining her older brother, Jack. In 1946, the family moved to Denver, CO, with a 32’ house trailer. The family was close knit and made many wonderful memories as they moved around Denver. Eventually, they settled in Englewood and built a home on Fox Street.
Judy graduated from Englewood High School and began nursing school at CU Boulder. During her time at CU, it was hard to be away from her young siblings, Janie and Jeff. After a year in Boulder, she moved back home and began nursing school at Loretto Heights. In 1958, she met Joe Freund, who would become the love of her life. Joe moved here from Iowa on his way to Texas to work on a ranch. He never made it to Texas. Joe & Judy married on June 30, 1962, at St. Pius X in Aurora, CO. The couple welcomed two children, Lynne and Joey. They built a successful family business together with Joe’s brothers.
In 1975, the family moved to Running Creek Ranch, in Elizabeth, CO., where they established themselves into the community and grew their legacy. They welcomed Kathy Hughes into the family later in life.
Judy lived her life in service of others, caring deeply for family and friends and volunteering throughout her life. She was a long-time cooking leader in Elbert County 4H, a supporter of Catholic Charities and College for living. A proud parishioner of Ave Maria, her church family. Her faith was a pillar of her life. She was involved in many ministries, most notably the Martha’s, St. Joseph of Cupertino, and a RE teacher to special needs children.
Judy lived a beautiful life with her family and friends. Enjoyed spending time with family, especially when everyone was gathered around the table for a good meal or game of cards. She had an uncanny ability of making friends anywhere she was and remembering them always. Loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph, daughter Lynne (Phil) Pasion, son Joseph (Colleen), daughter Kathy (Todd) Poirot, brothers Jack Graham, Jeff (Mary) Graham, grandchildren: Caitlyn (Hunter) Kopp, Neil, William, Grace, Ethan, Soren, Justen and Brenden; great grandchild Brooklyn, nieces and nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Ann Graham and her sister Janie Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, Judy has requested you reach out to others.
