Judy Julia Mecillas
Judy was born in Goodrich, Colorado to parents Delfino and Micaela Villa. She married the love of her life of 58 Years, Albert Mecillas on Dec 2, 1967. She was raised in Wiggins, lived her early married life in the Denver Metro Area and raised her family in Wattenberg. She was the second of seven children.
She will be remembered for the loving heart she poured into all her actions selfless, gentle, and kind and for embodying holiness and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through her service and dedication to her family and community. She never hesitated to help someone in need, volunteering faithfully for her parish and continuing cherished family reunion traditions.
In the 1960s, she began her first job at Barber’s in Broomfield and later worked at Central Products in Brighton. She spent decades helping families with their taxes, known lovingly as “The Tax Lady.” We will fondly remember her annual declaration that “this is my last year doing taxes,” though she never truly stopped. She was deeply committed to her clients and always found a way to continue serving them.
Judy is survived by her Husband, Albert Mecillas; her sons, Albert Mecillas Jr. and Greg Mecillas; her daughter-in-law, Machel, six grandchildren, Michael, Brooke, Reina, Izaak, Ryan, and Cyndi, along with eight great-grandchildren Alyciti, Mila, Michael Jr., Finnegan, Izabella, Clarissa and Jose, and Mia. Additionally, she was a proud great-great-grandmother to Aryela. She is survived by her sister, Lupe Gabaldon, her brothers, Casemiro Villa and Manuel Montez, and her sister-in law, Patricia Villa. She is preceded in death by her father, Delfino and mother Micaela, her brothers, Frank and Delfino Villa, and Daniel Montez, and her daughter Pamela Mecillas.
