Karen Hakanson Obituary

Karen Anne Hakanson

Karen Anne Hakanson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, March 3rd, 2025. Her loving husband Greg was with her as well as her dogs: Oreo and Sugar, and her cats: Kit Kat, Lollipop, and Coconut.

Karen will always be remembered for her unmatched generosity, kindness, and spirit.

A beloved wife to Greg, a loving Mother to Dennis and Shelley, and loving Grandmother to Tyler, Jessica, and Samantha.

Karen was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 6th, 1955, to Edward and Lorraine Borucki. She is survived by her loving siblings Kathy, Michael, and Karla and her nieces and nephews Roddy, Katie, and Ashley.

Karen loved singing, dancing, yoga, Karaoke, camping and many other activities.

Karen moved to Colorado in the 1990’s when her grandson Tyler was born. During this time Karen married the love of her life, Greg.

Karen and Greg were living a life two could only dream about. Their lives were always filled with happiness and fun. They especially liked spending time together on their boat in Lake Powell.

Karen worked as an office manager at Crist and Crown Hill mortuary. Karen unfortunately suffered injuries in an automobile accident, and she could no longer work.

Through the years, and because of her injuries, her physical health began to decline. She tried to start her own business but again was unable due to her condition.

Although Karen struggled with her physical ailments, she was still a loving, giving, kind person who never lost her spirit.

Karen wanted everyone to be happy!

We will always love and miss her!
