Katherine Madeline Brodsky, 75, born in Sterling, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 2, 1948 to Joe Apodaca and Cora Olivas. Kathy married John Casillas on September 1, 1965 and together they had 5 children Debbie, John, Mike, Gloria and Jamie. Kathy loved her children dearly and it was evident in all she did. She loved God and their family was in church every time the doors were open. Kathy had several jobs while raising her children; from making burritos, caretaker of a camp, to working the beet fields where she taught the meaning of hard work. She worked very hard to provide for her family and was willing to do what it took to provide for them. Kathy later married Alan Brodsky who was her companion for over 40 years. Everyone who came in contact with her knew she loved Jesus, her family, and her church. She spent a lot of her time reading and studying God’s Word and she made it her mission to tell anyone and everyone about Jesus so they could go to Heaven. Kathy was welcomed into Heaven by several family members including her daughter Debbie Watkins and grandson Jeremy Casillas. She is survived by her sisters: Theresa Ortiz, Jenny Martinez, Sons: John (Melissa) Casillas, Mike (Lisa) Casillas, daughters: Gloria (Oscar) Mosley, Jamie (Adrian) Aragon, Grandchildren: Brian (Sophie) Watkins, Michael (Desiree) Casillas, Rachel Salazar, Justin Casillas, Adrian Aragon, Jr., Márquez (MiQuilla) Anderson, CharMel Casillas, Eric Casillas, Dominic Casillas, Saraí Aragon and Great-Grandchildren: Aaliyah Casillas, Shilynn Casillas, Shelby Casillas, Eliana Anderson, A’Quila-Rose Anderson, and Dakota Watkins and several nieces and nephews.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
