Ken graduated high school in 1973 and went on to join the Navy later that year. Ken was also awarded officer of the deck for the USS Vandergrift. One of Ken’s commanders has stated that Ken’s devotion reflected the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. In total Ken contributed 20 years of active honorable service in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1994.
In 1994 Ken met Vicki at their job at the Kmart distribution center. The two tied the knot on a beautiful summer day in 1996. Ken loved Vicki dearly and this year would have been their 29th year of marriage. Ken gained two children in the marriage, Evelyn and Anthony. With them, came 12 grandkids, and 6 great grandkids which he adored. Ken dedicated his time to helping raise his grandkids. He also has an abundance of nieces and nephews he enjoyed watching grow up.
Ken was a true patriot and loved this country, he took pride in hanging his American flag as much as he could. Another thing Ken enjoyed was astronomy, he found beauty in the galaxies and constellations. He was also a long time Broncos fan. Ultimately his biggest passion was his wife, he was a dedicated husband and took pride in his love for his grandkids.
Ken was a man of faith, and he stayed that way till his last moment on earth, which he spent next to his wife. Ken was a light to those who knew him and showed devotion in all aspects of his life. This made him a great husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and sailor.
