Kenneth List Obituary

Kenneth Richard List of Foxfield, Colorado passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at the age of 79. Ken died peacefully at home with his daughter and grandson by his side.

Ken was born in Adams City on December 3, 1940, to father Harold Dean List and mother Helen Marie Evans (nee Juhl). Ken is survived by two younger siblings, Judith Irene Karnes and Gary Harold List.

Ken married Carolyn Mae Degenhart of Brighton, Colorado on November 5, 1960 at the age of 19.  In his younger years, “Cowboy Ken” spent his weekdays working as a gas man for Public Service Company of Colorado (Xcel Energy), but loved playing cowboy on the weekends at his father-in-law’s ranch. He helped with the cattle and wheat harvests. Ken stayed with Public Service for 34 years, until his retirement. He rarely brought home a paycheck without overtime.

Ken and Carol spent their twenties dancing at country-western dives and German Polkas during the winter, then camping, fishing, and water skiing during the summer. Their first babies were poodles; Frenchie, Peché and Noël. In their thirties, they realized their dream of parenthood when they adopted two human children, Jeffrey Alan and Deborah Ann.

Ken and Carol moved southeast of Denver to a 2.5 acre lot in 1976 where they raised their children. Ken always treasured his open space and the beautiful view of the mountains.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Alan List and Deborah Ann Baker; grandchildren Caitlin Nicole Brittle, Elisabeth Nichole List, Adreanna Justine List, Sara Ann Carolynn Marie List, Emily Sophia Baker, Julianna Marie List, and Matthew Kenneth Baker.
