Larry Arnold Miskimen
Larry Arnold Miskimen was born in Coshocton, OH on June 30, 1939, the oldest of two boys, to Wayne and Thelma (Bennett) Miskimen.
He was baptized into the name of the Triune God on March 24, 1940, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newcomers Town, OH and became a child of the King of Kings, with whom he walked for the 85 years of earthly life allotted to him.
At 25 years of age Larry made a public confession of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in January of 1965 at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.
In February of 1962 Larry joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a machinist, first on vehicles and then for 15 months on fighter aircraft in the Philippines, supporting the Vietnam War.
On September 13, 1964, Larry and Helen Jane Van Auken were joined by God into the one-flesh union of Holy Matrimony at Otis Air Force Base in Falmouth, MA. The Lord blessed Larry and Helen’s marriage of 60 years with one daughter, Cynthia Darlene.
After Larry served four years in the Air Force, he and Helen moved to Denver, CO where Larry worked as a machinist first for Samsonite and then for the Gates Rubber Company for 30 years.
Larry had a special interest in listening to music, even teaching himself to play the guitar so he could accompany Helen on the piano. He was a gifted handyman, performing much of the maintenance work on their home and vehicles.
Larry was a hard worker at home and at work and a true Christian gentleman who was easy to talk with about many subjects.
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia in 2018. He is survived by his wife, Helen and his brother, John Miskimen of Apple Creek, OH.
Having survived two different episodes of cancer in recent years, Larry struggled in recent months with a sudden case of acute myelitis that placed him in hospice care. On January 20, 2025, at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheatridge, Larry’s Lord held out His hand and called him to enter into eternal Paradise where he awaits the final resurrection to our heavenly home on the day of Christ’s promised return.
