Leo Wayne Diederich, age 79, of Dacono, Colorado, passed away on December 17, 2025. He was born on May 16, 1946, in Oberlin, Kansas, to Charles H. and Matilda Lydia (Harold) Diederich. He will be remembered for his kind and giving spirit.
Leo was the youngest of six siblings and was raised on the family farm north of Oberlin. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1964. Following high school, Leo proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 as an Infantryman. He completed one tour of duty in Vietnam, earning an Air Medal and two Bronze Service Stars, and was honorably discharged.
In the 1970s, Leo moved to Colorado, where he attended Red Rocks Community College, taking classes in Social Sciences. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of fields, including retail, farming, and manual trades. Leo enjoyed talking with people and was known for his friendly nature. His interests included riding motorcycles, attending classic car shows, and watching sports, especially cheering on the Denver Broncos. He was a strong believer in positive thinking and the law of attraction, often saying that you create what you think.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Diederich and Justin Diederich (Moriah); his granddaughters, Eloise and Genevieve Diederich; his sister, Lois Jordan; his brother, Allen “Butch” Diederich (Sandra); and many extended family members and close friends.
