LoriLea Skretta Obituary

LoriLea Elizabeth Skretta, 63, of Lochbuie, Colorado died on June 17, 2026, at her home. She was born on October 20, 1962, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Donna Robert Gehrig.

She was the older of 3. She grew up in Commerce City and later moved to Lochbuie (Space City), Colorado to settle down with her family. She attended Hudson Elementary and Weld Central for Middle and High School. She helped her mom as an assistant Den Mother to Boy Scouts pack 109. She worked many different jobs, doing yard work and waitressing for a bar in Keenesburg, working at the Brighton Twin movie theater.

Later she worked at Burger King with her brother Joe, as well as Safeway. Anywhere she worked everyone became like family. A few years after graduating she met her husband Dave and got married on December 11, 1984 and began starting her family. Dave was an Army man that traveled base to base, and Lori was right there be his side with their 4 children. She was able to travel with him to places like Kansas and Germany. While in Germany her and her husband Dave worked stocking at the Commissary and contracts with various leading distributors. When she wasn’t with her husband she stayed with her parents. After leaving the army they settled down in Lochbuie themselves. After moving to Lochbuie, Lori and her husband Dave worked for Diamond Shamrock in both Brighton and Commerce City. Later Lori decided to start working in her kids’ schools as a volunteer, teacher para, lunch lady and a member of the PTA.

As her kids grew, so did her interest in helping stay involved with her girls. She became a girl scout leader and co leader and was able to travel to Hawaii. She would also help her mother with the Colorado Food Share; she eventually got the whole family involved. She was an entrepreneur and tried new things like selling Tupperware, Avon and MaryKay. She had a crocheting hobby that she mastered, she was able to complete a blanket in just a few weeks. She was a collector of Beanie Babies; she traveled near and far to add to her collection. She stayed close to her family and enjoyed much time with her children and grandchildren. She had a total of 15 grandkids ranging from 9 months to 21 years old. She always enjoyed a home filled with tiny feet and laughter. She also enjoyed many holidays where she got to spend time with all her family under one roof. She was also a big fan of family reunions because it gave her a chance to catch up with long-distance family from all over the map.

Lori surprised everyone when she got her motorcycle license and got a Can-Am. Lori and Dave traveled through many states and drove the whole coast. She slowly became a dare devil, some might say. Everywhere Lori went she could brighten up the room and put a smile on everyone’s face. She will be truly missed, and the world won’t be the same without her. She wasn’t just a mother, she was an aunt, cousin, grandmother but best of all she was a friend to everyone. Lori is survived by her husband Dave Skretta and their four children, Dustin Skretta, Elizabeth Perez, Jennifer Gallego and Sara Skretta and brother David Gehrig.

Lori is preceded in death by her father Robert Gehrig, mother Donna Gehrig, brother Joseph Gehrig and grandson Bane Rolle.
