Lorraine Moy Obituary

Lorraine Kay Moy

December 19,1946 – October 13,2024

Lorraine was born December 19, 1946, to Charles Harold Seadschlag and Bernadine Virginia Holtorf in Boise, Idaho.  Shortly after, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Lorraine attended school, graduating from North High School (Omaha Nebraska) in 1965 as an honor roll student and National Forensic League member.    She attended Saint Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lorraine married George J. Schmitz Jr. in 1965, and they had two children, Natalie Anne and Barton Harold.  After her first marriage, Lorraine married Jack David Moy in her parents’ backyard garden on September 2, 1972.   They had two children, Michael John and Carey Ann, and later adopted their third son, Travis.

Jack and Lorraine moved from Omaha, Nebraska in 1979 to Alliance, Nebraska where Jack worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.  Lorraine worked in Hospital Administration at Box Butte Memorial Hospital until 1982 when the family relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado.   Lorraine continued in hospital administration at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.  In 1988, the family moved to Castle Rock, Colorado where she worked for Arapahoe County Mental Health Center, until retiring in 1993.   In 2005 Jack and Lorraine moved to Brighton, Colorado, where they have lived since.

Lorraine enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and anything else dealing with fabric and thread and was a licensed Martha Pullen instructor.   She loved reading and watching murder mysteries, especially Agatha Christie, Father Brown Mysteries, and Sherlock Holmes.   She also enjoyed reading and saving magazines that featured sewing and crafts.

Lorraine was a disciple of our Savior Jesus Christ.  As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in Wards and Branches in all the communities where they lived.  She loved the Church, especially teaching Young Adults and Children.   She played the organ and piano, taught Sunday School and Primary, served the community, and participated in Family History Work.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Charles, and mother, Bernadine, and her two brothers Dennis and Bruce and a great-granddaughter Kinnley K. Miranda.   She is survived by her husband and eternal companion Jack David Moy; two daughters, Natalie Brush (Dan Stevenson) of Denver, CO, Carey (Justin) Gordon of Commerce City, CO; three sons, Barton (Ann) Schmitz of Firestone, CO, Michael (Janelle) Moy of Omaha, NE, Travis Moy of Fruit Heights, UT and  sister-in-law, Susan Seadschlag of Omaha, NE.  Other survivors include 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
