Margaret Mary Sterkel

Margaret Mary Sterkel was born March 20, 1926 to Jacob and Anna Seewald. She was the seventh child of 11 children.  Her parents and family farmed various places around the Longmont area. She attended St. John's schools in Longmont, Colorado.  At seven years the family lost their dad Jacob in a car accident; the family farm lifestyle changed to living in the city of Longmont, where she met Reuben Sterkel. They married on August 2, 1942. They spent most of their lives on a small acreage west of Brighton. Margaret worked for businesses selling wholesale eggs and poultry. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, dancing, and spending time with family.

Margaret is survived by her children, Linda Hayes (Phil) and Tim Sterkel; grandchildren, Rob Hayes (Fran), Debbie Sekera, Jeff Sekera, Craig Hayes, Jim Hayes, Brad Sekera (Danni), Jake Sterkel, Talon Sterkel; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; sister, Maggie Rademacher; brother, Pete Seewald (Linda); and many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends.  She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Reuben Sterkel; daughter, Patricia Sekera; and great grandson Dalton Hayes.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, September 9, 2020, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Services immediately following at 11:00 a.m., all at Tabor Funeral Home in Brighton, Colorado.  Interment follows at Elmwood Cemetery, in Brighton.
