Maria E. Rivera

Maria E. Rivera, 73, of Brighton, Colorado, peacefully passed away, early morning on Sunday, November 6th, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

She is survived by her seven siblings and their spouses, David and Luz Huerta, Elias and Tules Huerta, Eva and Bob Starich, Elva and Jesus E. Ponce, Joe and Gay Huerta, Elma and Hector Sanchez, and Tina and Donnie Vigil. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Maria was born in San Benito, Texas on July 19th, 1949, to Jose and Acilia Huerta. She attended school in Los Fresnos, Texas, and resided in Brighton, Colorado. Maria married Lawrence Rivera on Valentine’s Day in February of 1987 and became stepmother to Josette and Corine. Maria worked for Kitayama Brothers greenhouse for many years, eventually finding her way to a wonderful career in the pharmaceutical industry, retiring from Pioneer Pharmacy in 2015.

Maria had many hobbies; she trained for and ran in the Bolder Boulder for a countless number of years, enjoyed fishing, camping, and participated in bowling leagues. Maria also enjoyed spending her summer nights playing softball and picked up golf later in life.

Maria was very devoted to her family and always made it a priority to be a part of her many nieces and nephews’ lives. Each and every one of them were a big part of her life.

She was reunited into holy matrimony to Lawrence Rivera and proceeded in death by her parents Jose and Acilia Huerta and brother Obed Huerta, and sister Belinda Huerta

Maria will be missed by everyone who was a part of her life. Her genuine kindness, beautiful smile, and loving heart will forever be remembered.
