Maria “Becky” Zapata
Becky was born in Prospect Valley, CO to Matias and Guadalupe Martinez. Becky was 1 of seven siblings. She was born on August 8th, 1954. She attended Weld Central High School.
Becky was well known for doing taxes. Becky worked very hard to provide for her children. She was a woman of many hats to make sure her kids and grandkids were taken care of. She enjoyed the monthly BINGO gatherings and enjoyed when the Broncos lost so she had the opportunity to rub it in her kids and grandchildren’s face. Becky enjoyed telling her stories when she played softball and always taught us never to quit. Becky loved her Stone-Cold Steve Austin she said that was a VERY GOOD-LOOKING man. You knew that Becky was watching her Monday night RAW, The Waltons, The Golden Girls, Little House on the Perrie, The Bad Girls Club, The Challenge while with her cup of coffee w/milk and no sugar, cigarette and you knew not to bother her at that time.
Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life- her greatest joy, her deepest purpose, and the legacy she poured her heart into every single day. She wanted nothing more than for her family to walk in faith, and to stand firm in adversity; always telling them stories of the past and using her famous saying “a little birdie told me, so you better be telling me the truth; you better be telling me the truth because the truth will eventually come out.”
She is survived by her son Gonzalo, 3 daughters, Stephanie, Ashley and Nicole; along with her sister Cindy, niece Yulissa, and grandchildren; Natasha, Jessica, Deigo, Layevska, Sheyla, Davian, Evanie, Nyleiah, Gabino “Govi”, and Vivian. Her love for her children, sister, niece, and grandchildren was strong and was out of this world.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents Matias and Guadalupe Martinez, brother Frank Martinez, her 2 daughters Monica and Angie Zapata.
