Marilyn Lorraine (Richardson) Brown
January 14, 1943- December 5, 2020
Marilyin was born in Brighton, Colorado to Neal and Esther (Edstrom) Richardson, She graduated from Brighton High School in 1961. She married the love of her life Harvey Elmer Brown on March 18, 1967.
They acquired land from her family in Brighton CO where they built their home and raised their 3 boys, Doug, David, and Gary. When the boys were in elementary school she dedicated a lot of her time to the boys and their school, she was involved in the PTA and she drew the school mascot, a Viking Ship. She made many lifelong friendships with the other parents at North Elementary school.
Marilyn worked at High Plains Highschool where she started as an adult education secretary, later to become a student advisor, then in 2002 the coordinator. She retired from there in 2010. Marilyn touched the lives of so many of her students, and they hers too. The students and the friendships she made meant the world to her.
After retirement she concentrated on being an outstanding Grandma to her 4 Grandchildren, Spencer, Samantha, Georgia, and Elik. Marilyn had many passions in life, family, art, movies and TV. She also enjoyed going up to Black Hawk & Central City with Harvey and her family. She also was an avid movie watcher and loved going to the movies. Family and friends were her biggest joy in life. She was very social and always saw the good in everyone. She was a fun spirit and could always be seen doing the chicken dance at every wedding she went to.
She is survived by her husband Harvey, sons Doug (Sondra) Brown, David (Janelle) Brown, Gary Brown her 4 Grandchildren Spencer, Samantha, Georgia and Elik, Brother Jim Richardson, sister Laurie Winters, and many other extended family members. She is preceded in death by both her parents, & her brother Gene Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's research hospital, Shriners Hospital, and The Denver Rescue mission.
