Mariza was born in Denver, Colorado, to Marcelino Vasquez Alvarado and Juana Vasquez. Mariza was the second oldest of 4 siblings. She was raised in Fort Lupton, Colorado. She graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1999.
After high school, she pursued an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Science and started her career in the medical field as a medical assistant. When she later developed her health issues she stayed home as a homemaker and dedicated her life to her daughter, Ariana.
Mariza’s passion was the love for animals and was very compassionate about rescuing animals. She would talk about one day owning her own animal sanctuary. She owned 6 cats, 20 chickens, and 3 dogs. Yes, it was a houseful.
Mariza had an adventurous and creative spirit. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and attending to her animals. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Ariana Pacheco, that she had with her long-time partner of 20 years, Victor Hugo Pacheco.
Mariza had a great love for her family and those closest to her. Even during difficult moments, she kept her sense of humor, often cracking jokes at unexpected times and uplifting everyone’s spirits. Her greatest happiness was when she spent time and made memories with her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Mariza was a devoted follower of Christ. Her faith in God brought her comfort during her difficult times of sickness. She was a woman of grace, resilience, and humility. Her faith in the Lord and the companionship of her parents, Juana and Marcelino brought her comfort until her very last moments.
Mariza is survived by her daughter, Ariana Elisa Pacheco (Chana); her father, Marcelino Vasquez; her mother, Juana Vasquez; and her siblings: San Juana Vasquez, Miguel Vasquez, and Elvia Vasquez-Flores.
She is also survived by three nephews: Humberto Guerrero, Gavrin Flores Jr., and Julian Vasquez; and four nieces: Mireya VanFrank, Esmeralda Guerrero, Neriah Flores and Ailani Flores; and her beloved great-nieces: Samara Jimenez and Gloria Guerrero, all of whom cherished her deeply. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless friends who will forever remember her
