Mark Glenn Weiss

Mark Glenn Weiss, age 77, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Lafayette, Colorado. He was born September 25, 1947, to William and Iris (Jarrett) Weiss in Norwalk, Connecticut, where he grew up and met his wife, Ilona Hada Weiss. They were married on April 17, 1983.

For labor, Mark worked as Custodian Superintendent of all Norwalk Public Schools until he moved to Colorado. After moving to Colorado, he worked at King Soopers in the Deli and Meat Department until his retirement. Mark was well known and liked by everyone he came in contact with. He was an animal lover and left behind his kitty, Sunny, who still looks for him. He and Ilona would enjoy long walks in the woods where they would talk and breathe in the fresh air. He loved tinkering with Ilona’s Dad. They even worked together for a time as a landscape gardener and handyman.

Mark was rooted in faith. He attended the Methodist Church in Norwalk and then later; after moving to Colorado, he visited the Niwot and Louisville United Methodist Churches before settling in at First United Methodist Church of Lafayette. Several Sundays, Mark and Ilona would walk to Church because it was so close. It wasn’t enough to belong to the Church. He later became Chair of Trustees and worked diligently to keep the Church grounds in tip-top shape. He was available all hours of the day (or night). He was very passionate about this duty and took the job seriously. What a blessing he was!

Mark is survived by his two Stepsons, Vahe and Ara Derounian. Also, by his Step-Grandchildren, Zare, Hannah, Sascha, Cyrus. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Iris (Jarrett) Weiss.

Mark will be greatly missed by everyone.
