Marlene Kalcevic Obituary

Katherine Marlene Kalcevic, 77, of Bennett, passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2017, after battling ALS for nine years. She was born February 18, 1940, in Brighton to Lewis and Alma (Green) Tracy. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1958 as Head Girl. She later married her high school sweetheart, Jim Kalcevic, on December 26, 1959, in Brighton.

Marlene’s many talents and generosity allowed her to touch the lives of many. Whether it was teaching young 4-H girls or her grand-daughters to crochet, tailoring uniforms for Continental Airlines flight attendants, volunteering as a DIA Ambassador, or being a Mary Kay consultant for over 20 years, she enjoyed every minute of the experiences and always made an impact on the lives of those she touched. Marlene’s greatest joy and gift was supporting her husband and family in the many activities that they participated in.

Marlene was an amazing cook and every hired hand relished the opportunity to work during harvest just so they could get a taste of Marlene’s meals that she delivered to the harvest field for nearly 50 years. She loved working in the yard, making floral arrangements, spending time at their cabin in Kremmling, and being a member of the U&I Club for decades.

Marlene was affectionately known by many names: Mom, Grammie, Sis, Auntie, The Wife, Dear, Macy, Marn, GramGram, and Marnie. No matter the name you used to address her, you always knew you would get a beaming smile.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Jim of Bennett; children, Tracy (Mark) Zuber of Bennett, Julie (Mitch) Miller of Bennett, Kelly Kalcevic of Centennial and Kent (Danell) Kalcevic of Bennett; grandchildren, Justin (Adrienne) Zuber, Quintin (Brittany) Zuber, Austin (Jessica) Zuber, Jake Miller, Lindsey Miller, Tabor Kalcevic, Asia Kalcevic, and three great-grandchildren, Ian, Andy and Emmitt Zuber. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bud Tracy.

Marlene’s Memorial Service and reception will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 11:00am at Summit of Peace Lutheran Church in Thornton, Colorado.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Marlene’s name to either Halcyon Hospice-Patient Relief, PO Box 177, Mead, Colorado 80542 or ALS-Rocky Mountain Chapter, 10855 Dover Street, #500, Westminster, Colorado 80021.

The Lord gives, the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
