Mary Elizabeth Burkhardt

Mary Elizabeth Burkhardt, 86, of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, passed away on March 15, 2021 at her home. She was born January 10, 1935 in Oswego, Kansas to John W. and Minnie (Delventhal) Grein. She grew up in the Brighton area and later moved to Fort Lupton where they raised their family.  Theodore Burkhardt and Mary wed on August 1, 1954 in Brighton, Colorado.

Mary was seamstress for Holubar where she sewed ski mittens and boots from her home while raising her 4 children. She later turned her talents into sewing baby blankets and bibs after her first grandchild was born along with many other handcrafted items. She often donated many of the things she made to Warm Hearts Warm Babies, and many other charities. She loved baking cakes and cookies that she loved sharing with family and friends. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling Europe and the Caribbean on cruises with her husband Ted. Mary especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (Neil) Martin of Dalton, NE, Donna (Carl) Eberhard of Henderson, CO; son, Dwain (Deanna) of Ft. Lupton; and sisters Velma Hudson of Evans, CO, Lucille Wagner (Clifford) of Brighton, CO and brother Frederick Grein of Collbran, CO.  Survivors also include 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Burkhardt in 2009 and daughter Julia Burkhardt in 1998; brother Ivan Grein in 2020.
