Mary Hill

September 4, 1943 ~ June 6, 2022 (age 78)

Obituary

Mary Jane Beshears was born on September 4, 1943, in Erie, Colorado to Thomas and Alma Beshears.  She was the youngest of three siblings.  Mary Jane grew up in Erie and lived with her family in an apartment above the local gas station and repair shop her family owned.

Mary graduated from Westminster High School in 1961.  Mary was a cheerleader and loved to sing in the Church. She also a participated in beauty pageants.  Anyone who knew Mary knew how much she loved to dance.  One of her favorite memories of high school was that she used to cut journalism class to go home or go eat somewhere.

Mary began working just one week after graduating high school.  In the fall of 1963 Mary Jane married Samuel E. Hill in Denver, Colorado.  Sam and Mary Jane had two daughters together, Becky Jane and Amy Lynn.  Mary Jane also helped raise Sam’s son Rick Hill.  In 1979, the family moved to Brighton where they were involved in their schools, 4-H club, and sports.  Mary remained in her home in Brighton, Colorado until just a few weeks before she passed.

Mary Jane loved to camp and fish with her family.  She also liked to sew and do ceramics.  She would sew her daughter's outfits and Halloween costumes for many years when they were young.

When her granddaughters were little, they went to Grandma Mary’s almost every day and the fun they would have.  They had birds and fish and hamsters and chickens and cats!  They cooked, made messes, and played games.  But most of all they made memories.   She was a very proud mom and an even more proud grandma.

Mary Jane enjoyed laughing with her family and her friends.  We will miss her forever.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Amy and Phil Fleming, Scott and Becky Hohnstein, her granddaughters Bethany, Erin, and Chandler.   She is preceded in death by her father Thomas, mother Alma, her husband Sam, stepfather Harold, sister Margorie and brother Tom.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Jane asked for donation to be made to either St. Jude’s Research or the Wounded Warrior Project.
