Mary Werth Obituary

Mary Eleanor Werth went to be with the Lord on the morning of March 23, 2024. She was 81 years old. Born on April 1, 1942, to Duane and Pauline Moody, she was one of five sisters. Mary attended high school in Goodland, KS, and grew up very involved in the full gospel church where her father was a pastor for many years.

In her early career, Mary worked as a CNA and resided in various small towns in southwestern Colorado. She was blessed with two children, Michelle and Mike. Later, in late January 1972, Mary met her future husband, Larry Werth, who also had two children of the same ages, Nick and Connie. After a very brief courtship, they married on March 31, 1972, in a Las Vegas chapel. Together, they welcomed a son, Alex, born on January 12, 1974, completing their family.

Throughout her life, Mary juggled multiple roles, including odd jobs, while raising her five children and attending their extra-curricular activities. Mary and Larry dedicated their life to ensuring Alex had the best possible care and quality of life by bringing him home and being his primary caregivers for over 14 years.

Mary was known for her sociable nature and loved spending time with friends, family, and neighbors. She was always up for a good game of Rummikub or Yahtzee and somehow found a way to win. She had a sweet tooth that was unmatched, and you could find a trail ending in her nightstand where she liked to hide her goodies from her kids and grandkids. She was also a frequent shopper and would have achieved gold club membership status at Walmart and Biggs if they had one. Mary and Larry loved to travel with family and friends, and if there was a casino nearby, their bags would be packed a week in advance.

Mary’s faith in God and love for her family were central to her life. She was a listening ear without judgment and always was there for advice with her wisdom and gentle touch if you wanted it. Despite health issues, Mary remained resilient and steadfast. We will miss everything about her, including her smile that lit up the room even if she was struggling.

She is survived by her four children, Michelle Snow, Nick (Candace) Werth, Mike (Tonya) Moody, and Connie (Todd) Gibson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Melissa (Dale) Kuberski, Jarryd Ramirez, Caitlyn Ramirez, Keara Werth, Aidan Moody, James Carlson, Jacey Carlson, and Jace Kuberski;and one sister, Diana (Travis) Judkins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Werth, her son, Alexander Werth, her parents, Duane and Pauline Moody, and her sisters, Nancy (Moody) Nall, Sharon Whittenburg, and Debra Moody.
