Melvin J. Stoecklein
Mel was the 11th youngster born to the late Anna and Vincent Stoecklein on August 31, 1928. All off his siblings have preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and the University of Colorado. He served in the United States Marine Corps and prior to his discharge in 1948, was assigned as the Acting Company First Sergeant at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Corona, California. He then served two years in the Marine Corps Reserves.
On April 14, 1950, he married Evelyn Edstrom. They shared many happy and blessed years. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, daughters Kathyrn Mancini (Gary), Karla Towne, Barbara McCoy (Robert) and his son Robert (Roberta). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 step- great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
He retired after 35 years of federal service. Ten of these years, he spent as an auditor for the Auditor General of the Air Force. The remainder of his years were as a supervisory systems accountant at the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center. He loved to spend as much time as possible at their cabin in Estes Park and loved to hunt, fish and play golf.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 31st at St Augustine Church, Brighton, CO. Rosary at 10:30a.m. and mass at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Brighton, CO
