Michael Lawrence Kleve

Mike was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Brighton, Colorado with his parents, Larry and Sue Kleve in 1973. In April, 1974 he was joined by a younger adopted sister, Mia, from Korea, and in May, his younger brother Ryan was born.

Through a life of medical adversity beginning at the age of 5 Mike persevered and often proved the doctors wrong. He led a normal life of school, friends, bikes, skiing, tennis, golf with medical problems slowing him down here and there but never stopping him. He loved visiting Minnesota in the summer and going to the lake cabin to fish with Grandpa Knafla and the family. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1986 where he participated in many activities. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration. While in college he was very active in Marketing Club and the Housing Authority. As part of college classes he traveled several weeks in Europe where he got a part of the Berlin Wall. He especially like Greece. After several years working in the mountains at Keystone he joined the family businesses. He owned and operated Quizno's Classic Subs for several years and then went on to overseeing the convenience stores and car wash with his parents.

He loved the Broncos and held season tickets for years. He also followed other sports like the Rockies (loved spring training in Arizona), Avalanche (saw in person the Stanley Cup win), and the Nuggets and Mammoth
here and there as well as local college sports. He loved collecting sports memorabilia as well as Disney Classic movies and collectibles. His house was all decorated with memorabilia.

He had a dry sense of humor like his maternal grandfather and delighted his friends with his malapropisms. He will be remembered as a quiet, intelligent, strong, funny and loyal man who never complained about his lot in life. He was always "fine". He took everything in stride and did his best.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Sue Kleve, Brighton, his maternal grandmother, Lillian Knafla, Bloomington, MN, his sister, Mia, Littleton, his brother, Ryan, Denver, nephew, Cory, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and his dog Blue.

The Mike Kleve Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established and will be awarded to a student at Brighton High School for many years. Memorials may be sent c/o Valley Bank, 4900 E. Bromley, Brighton, CO 80601

A Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2007, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Brighton
