Noel "Bud" Barton Carey

Noel “Bud” Barton Carey was born in Ogalla, Nebraska and grew up in Eaton Colorado with his 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. He met Fern “Cookie” Pittington in Greeley, Colorado and they married February 28th, 1964.

Bud and Fern moved to Brighton in 1965. Later after moving to Brighton, Bud started driving for NPT, a job he did for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Golfing and shopping were a few things the couple loved to do together. They adopted their daughter Shawna in March of 1971 and purchased their forever home in 1973. As many of you know, Bud carried Shawna from the courthouse 2nd floor in his cowboy boots and was the first father to ever do so. Bud enjoyed his hamburgers and Friday night pizza from Pizza Hut, with double sausage. Anyone who cooked a good steak would know to cook him a hamburger.  

In 2004 Bud became a grandpa. Joey, his grandson, was born and Bud would always call him his bundle of Joey, amongst other nicknames.  In 2008, another grandson, Jackson was born followed by his granddaughter Samantha and Jameson. Bud and Fern were now grandparents of four and always enjoyed trips to the zoo, children’s museum, and parks. The kids enjoyed climbing his tree in his backyard, and many other pastimes with their grandpa. 

Bud lost his dear Fern in 2019 but kept busy with his yard as much as he could. You could always catch him watching football, bull riding, cowboy shows and wheel of fortune to keep his mind off of things. 

Bud is survived by his daughter, Shawna Simmons. By his grandchildren; Joey, Jackson, Sammie and Jameson.  Also, by various nieces and nephews and Sister-in-Law.  He is proceeded in death by his wife Fern of 55 years and both parents; two sisters Shirley Jean and Darlene and two younger brothers Doug and Ben
