Olivia Von Feldt Obituary

Olivia Ann (Hogelin) Von Feldt, 86, passed away on July 16, 2026. She was born on June 16, 1940 to Everett and Betty Hogelin in Fort Lupton, Colorado. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. 

Olivia met James Von Feldt, the love of her life, in physics class at Fort Lupton High School in 1957. After graduating high school, she attended Loretto Heights College and then went on to graduate from Colorado State College in Greeley with a degree in Education. She married James on August 11, 1962 and soon after began her lifelong career of being an elementary school teacher. She began teaching at Fort Lupton Elementary School and spent the majority of her career at Sherman Elementary in Fort Morgan. She also taught in Maxwell, New Mexico and Las Animas, Colorado before finishing her career working for the State of Colorado.  During retirement, Olivia spent several years as a substitute teacher at Byers Elementary. Olivia loved traveling with James on road trips around the state and country, attending numerous Knights of Columbus conventions and visiting family and friends.

Olivia was passionate about her faith and had a strong desire to share with others.  She taught religious education and was the CCD coordinator for several years at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Fort Morgan.  She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, as well as, Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, Colorado.  

Olivia is survived by her husband, James Von Feldt Sr., children James Von Feldt Jr. (Cindy), Valerie Labenz (Tyler), Greg Von Feldt (Tina), Julie Foster (Darryl) and Christie Winters (Mitch), grandchildren Jasmine Martinez,  Father Andrew Labenz, Kaylin Labenz, Brittany Labenz, Matthew Labenz, Jamie Torrez, Joey Von Feldt, Aujulee Iiams, Teirra Gutel, Megan Winters and Emily Winters, great grandchildren Elyse Labenz and Aria Iiams, siblings, Charlie Hogelin (Sherri), Tom Hogelin (Pam), Mary Odean (Kerry), and Joe Hogelin (Connie). 

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, Everett Hogelin and Betty (Kirwin) Hogelin and Kathy Hogelin (sister-in-law). 

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Tabor Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Avenue, Brighton, Colorado.  Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Rosary immediately following.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church, 186 N McDonnell Street in Byers, Colorado. Luncheon immediately following Mass.  Christian Burial at Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton at 2:00pm.  The family will also host an open house on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the American Legion Hall, 278 West Front Street in Byers.

Memorial gifts may be given in honor of Olivia Von Feldt to the Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society.
