Praxedis Banda

Praxedis Banda was born in Venado, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Sabina Ramirez and Manuel Banda, and was the tenth of eleven children. He grew up there and moved to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to start his adult life. It was there he met the love of his life, Maria Felix Jacobo. They got married on October 15, 1978 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Shortly after, he and his wife decided to move to a new country and create a brand new life in the United States. 

Praxedis and Maria created a new life for him and his family in Fort Lupton, Colorado, upon moving to the U.S. in 1981.  He made a living and supported his family by dedicating over 30 years at Longmont Foods/Butterball poultry processing facility.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria F. Banda and their six children, Hector Banda and his wife Yesmin Banda, Cesar R. Banda, Lourdes Perez and husband Jose, Virginia Hinojos and her husband Daniel, Mayra Courson and her husband Mark and Xavier Banda and his partner Raquel. He will be truly missed by his canine son, Dopey Junior.  

He was blessed with ten grandchildren and one on the way: Alvaro Perez and his wife Meghan, Xithlali Perez, Jose E. Perez, Nautica A. Banda, Yasmine C. Banda, Halle V. Banda, Samuel D. Banda, Daniel D. Hinojos, Elizabeth S. Hinojos, Aaron A. Banda, and future Baby Girl Banda. 

He loved to play and watch sports. He was an avid baseball fan, having played baseball and softball for many years in local and work leagues. He would always happily support all of his children and grandchildren by practicing with them and attending and cheering them on at their own sports games. A true Coloradan he loved watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos, but his absolute favorite sport was soccer.  The Rayados from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon was his favorite team from the Mexican soccer league.   

Praxedis was also a devoted Catholic.  His faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and devotion to the Virgin Mary was beyond words. He became an active member of his local parish, Saint Williams Catholic Church. There he also joined the “Unidos en Cristo” (United in Christ) choir.  He expressed his love to God by singing with all his heart and always helped spread the word of the Lord by communicating his beliefs to everyone who asked or met. His faith in God remained strong until his last moments on earth, which was spent in the company of his loving wife and daughter, Lourdes.  

He is preceded in death by both of his parents Manuel Banda, Sabina Ramirez, and sister Irene Banda.
