Robert "Bob" Moran Obituary

Robert “Bob” Moran (September 29, 1940 – May 6, 2021)

Robert Moran, 80 passed away on May 6, 2021 at the Inglenook Memory Care Living Facility in Brighton, CO., with his loving family by his side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bob was born in Boston, MA., to the late Thomas J. Moran and Mary (Moon) Moran on September 29, 1940.

Bob was raised in Somerville, MA and graduated from Somerville Trade High School, Somerville, MA, Class of 1960.  In February 1965 he met the love of his life Phyllis Fabin at the Boston City Club, when he asked her “Why aren’t you smiling?” While it might not have been the best line, the two began dating and in August 1965 they became in engaged. Bob and Phyllis were married on August 27, 1966 in a Catholic ceremony at the Immaculate Conception Church, Cambridge, MA.

In 1967, they welcomed a daughter, Donna E. Moran and in 1968 a son, Robert P. Moran. In 1972 they moved to Salisbury, MA to raise their family by the seacoast.

In 1972 Bob took job at Exxon, USA, Everett, MA, where he began his career with the company as trucker driver delivering heating oil and gasoline, before becoming a plant operator where he remained until his retirement in 1997.  After his retirement Bob and Phyllis decided to move to Lochbuie, Colorado in 2006, for a new adventure and to spend more time with their son and his family.

Bob loved a good joke and to laugh and was always smiling with a sunny outlook on life. He was a friendly man, he loved to talk to people everywhere he went, we always said after his retirement that he should have gotten a job as people greeter at Walmart, because he always liked meeting people with smile and a “how are you doing today?!” He was a humble man who never ask for anything for himself and always put his family needs first. Bob was always willing lend a helping hand to his family, friends, neighbors and sometimes complete strangers. He was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back and probably his shoes and socks too, if he thought you needed them. Bob loved to surf cast on Salisbury Beach and Plum Island beach, where he enjoyed the ocean, he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and attended many games with his family at Fenway Park and cried and cheered when they won the World Series in 2004, he also was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins, he enjoyed spending time and playing with his much loved grandson, Zachary, you could always find him down on the floor with him playing cars and trucks or running around the yard with Nerf guns, and lastly he loved and was madly devoted to his dogs, Brandy-Mae, Eddie and Gunny, where he spent countless hours walking with them at the dog park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas H. Moran.

Bob is survived by his beloved and devoted wife Phyllis M. Moran, of Lochbuie, CO. who he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this year, his daughter, Donna E. Moran, of Salisbury, MA, his son, Robert P. Moran and his wife Renee, and his loved grandson, Zachary P. Moran of Westminster, CO. He also survived by his sister, Carol Zinram of Erie, PA., and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members from Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.
