Ronald J. Lucero, age 72, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2026. He was born on May 21, 1953, in Denver, Colorado to Ismael and Helen Lucero. He was the middle child of 3, with Richard being the eldest and Roberta the youngest.
Ronnie grew up in Northeast Denver, where he attended catholic school at Cathedral and attended East High school. He was especially close to his aunts, uncles and cousins that lived in the same neighborhood. He played in various softball leagues and made countless lifelong friends.
At an early age Ronnie took on a huge responsibility helping his father raise his younger sister Robbie. He was an exemplary role model to his niece and nephews throughout the years. He raised and loved them as his own and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or create for them. He was part of a truly unique and blended family with step siblings and in-laws which he loved all the same.
In 1976 he met Yvonne V. DeVaul at one of his softball games and that was the start of 50 years of an amazing love and friendship. They went on to have 3 beautiful daughters, Angelina, Jennifer and Andrea. Eventually they married in 1994, their bond was stellar and idyllic to everyone who knew them.
Ron started his career at the United States Postal Service in November 1985 as a mail handler at the downtown Annex. He then moved to the GMF and after 26 years as a loyal and dedicated employee he retired in 2012. Ron was the Branch President of Local 321 Mail Handlers Union and served on their board as the Executive Vice President. Ron was a devoted steward with a staggering solidarity to the Union and to his fellow colleagues.
Throughout his life Ron had many hobbies which included fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, golfing and entertaining. He spent some of his retirement as the Sole Proprietor of “Turn the Beat Around” DJ Productions and his love for music was unmatched. He took pleasure in being outdoors and had a passion for a beautiful yard and correspondingly his adoration for sports would also get you an Avalanche Logo yard ensemble!
Ron’s pride and joy was his daughters and his grandchildren. He demonstrated his love through food, cooking and music and always made sure that unforgettable memories were made with both. Friends and family knew that birthdays, holidays, BBQs would include his priceless and beloved recipes. Ron was the grandpa that showed up for all the kids games, plays, recitals and made sure they knew he was their favorite fan.
Ronnie is survived by his lovely wife Yvonne, remaining sisters Robbie Lucero, Patricia Lucero, daughters Angelina & Cruz Rivas, Jennifer & Tony Lucero, Andrea and Mario Lucero along with grandchildren, Adrianna, Alena, Josiah, Faith, Jeremiah, Raevyn and Celina Cruz. He was a cherished and adored Son, Brother, Uncle, Father, Husband, Godfather, Grandfather,Cousin, friend and neighbor by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Dicky.
