In Loving Memory of Rose Kimiko Okada
January 30, 1937 – May 11, 2025
Rose “Kim” Kimiko Okada, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on January 30, 1937, in La Junta, Colorado, Rose was the daughter of Jukichi and Sute Okugawa. She grew up alongside her siblings, Mary (Tom) Ujifusa, Jim (Elaine) Okugawa, Amiko (Peter) Doi, and Chizu (Hikaru) Yoshino.
Kim married the love of her life, Paul Okada, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with four children: Kirk Okada, Lance (Laura) Okada, Derick Okada, and Teiko (Brian) Richy.
Kim was a proud grandmother, she found great joy in her six grandchildren: John (Jennifer) Richy, Stephen (Emily) Richy, Paul (Bailey) Richy, Chaz (Lauren) Okada, Lindsay Okada, and Luke Okada. Her family continued to grow with the arrival of three great-grandchildren, and another on the way.
Kim will be remembered for her love for her family, her delight in gathering loved ones around a table full of good food, her curiosity and attention to small details. Her presence touched the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she enriched.
Kim had a deep love for good food, joyful gatherings, and the people she held dear. We hope you’ll join us in giving her the vibrant send-off she so deserves.
In honor of her love for all things pink and pretty, we invite guests to wear a touch of pink, whether it be clothing, a pocket square, tie, pin, or any accessory that brings her spirit to mind. For those who may not have something pink, small tokens will be provided upon arrival.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a plant or tree to be added to her garden, a living tribute to her memory and her joyful presence in our lives.
