Ruby "Teenie" Lefforge Obituary

Ruby Montine “Teenie” Lefforge was born on January 12, 1934, in Fulton County to Donald McLain and Ethel Gardner McLain. After Ethel remarried, Ruby was blessed to gain Jack “PaPa” Wright as her father. Ruby was the third of 8 children in this loving family. She lived in Arkansas until 1943 when her family moved to Colorado, eventually settling in the Firestone area where she attended school, made life long friends and met the love of her life James “Jim” Lefforge.

On June 16, 1951, Ruby married James “Jim” Lefforge, and together they began their life in the Firestone area of Colorado. Work later took them to Nebraska before eventually returning to Denver, where they raised their four children: Cristy, James Jr. “Jimmie,” Steven “Steve,” and Sondra “Sandy.” Longing to return to country living, Ruby and Jim purchased property outside of Fort Lupton, where they built the home in which they would spend the rest of their lives together.

As their children grew and began families of their own, Ruby cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. Sleepovers at Grandma’s house were filled with special memories, including building blanket tents, having dance parties in the living room and getting to go to the garden and help reap the harvest. She was proud of each of her children and grandchildren and treasured the time they shared together.

Although Ruby worked outside the home from time to time, the role she cherished most was being a devoted wife, mother and grandma. She taught Sunday School, volunteered at her children’s schools, and found joy in lifelong learning. Whenever time allowed, she took classes in painting and cake decorating. Alongside her sister, she especially enjoyed the challenge of creating beautiful wedding cakes. Ruby had a deeply nurturing spirit, whether tending to her yard and large garden or caring for family members in need.

Ruby cared lovingly for her husband, Jim, at home until his passing in 2002 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Following his death, she continued living in the home they had built together, taking great pride in keeping her yard and gardens beautiful. Family and friends visited often, bringing her joy and companionship throughout the years. In more recent years, Ruby was blessed with many loving caregivers from Visiting Angels, whose care and support allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home. Surrounded by love and cherished memories, Ruby was called to her eternal resting place by her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2026.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Cristy (Bruce) Caswell; sons, Jimmie (Paula) Lefforge and Steve (Michelle) Lefforge; and daughter, Sandy (Craig) Pralle. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren: Alicia Hash, Stephanie Sanders, James Lefforge III, Wes Lefforge, Danny Lefforge, Josh Pralle, Amy Salazar, Sarah Aspa, Jamsie Peake, Destiny (Alan) Harrington, Jenna Pralle (Josh Gahagen), Shane Lefforge, and Brian Lefforge; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Wright, along with several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jim; grandson Brent Caswell; sisters Charlene, Emma, and Patsy; and brothers Duell, Gene, and Jack.

Her loving spirit, kindness, and devotion to family and God will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
