Shirley JoAnn Richardson
Shirley JoAnn Richardson passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at her home in Brighton, Colorado. Shirley was born on March 9, 1937, in Hebron, Nebraska to Paul and Gladys Doehring. She was the second youngest of eight siblings: LaVonne, Mable, Arlo Wayne, Ruth, Merlin, Norman, and Lemoine.
Shirley spent her younger years in and around Hebron. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1954 and was crowned Sports Queen her senior year. Shirley married her hometown sweetheart, Bob Richardson on September 11, 1955, in Hebron. After their marriage, Bob and Shirley moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado and eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado.
While living in Arvada, Shirley and Bob welcomed three children to the family, Judy, Jim, and Jon. Shirley dedicated her life to her family and raising her children was her first priority. She never missed a school event, award ceremony, baseball game, softball game, wrestling match, etc. However, after her children started school, Shirley ventured out and was hired part-time at the new Arvada Kmart where she worked for ten years. Working part-time allowed her to still be there for her family. Once the children were grown, Shirley accepted a full-time position in Accounts Receivable with the City of Arvada, where she worked until her retirement in 1997.
After retirement, Bob and Shirley moved to Brighton, Colorado to enjoy a new, more relaxed lifestyle. In Brighton, Shirley was quick to meet new friends and enjoyed community activities. She joined the Zion Lutheran Church and participated in Ladies Ministries. Shirley also found the game of Bridge and often played at the Brighton Senior Center with her friends. She also enjoyed playing card games and Dominos at home with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Bob, her daughter, Judy, sons Jim and Jon, six grandchildren, Michael (Jordan), Josh, Tara (Jonathan), Rachel (Brandon), Kelsie, and Cody (Seaera), eight great grandchildren, and another great grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Lemoine (Connie) and a large extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers.
