Shirley Marie Condrey, also known as Nana and Judy, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, in Brighton, Colorado at the age of 93 (although she would have said 35 and holding).
She was born July 25, 1926 in New York City, New York, to Dorothy and Joseph Marriott. Her mother was a physical education instructor and her father was piano tuner and technician. Later he became a part owner of a music store in Trinidad, Colorado. Her grandparents owned a peach orchard in Palisade, Colorado. In elementary school she was known for always wearing a bow in her hair. After high school she attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where she met her first husband Bill. Judy modeled hats for Neiman Marcus. She worked for the City Attorney of Englewood and for the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s office. She later became co-owner in her own real estate company, Elias and Company with her second husband Pete.
Judy outlived three husbands, William “Bill” Willcox, Edward Peter “Pete” Elias, and John Robert “Bob” Condrey.
Judy was a gracious hostess and was the life of many parties. She loved to travel, and would play a mean game of both bridge and dominos. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to spend time at Pinehurst Country Club surrounded by friends and family. She was known for her trademark beautiful red hair, for her fabulous sense of fashion and her witty sayings and expressions that her family lovingly dubbed “Nanaisms.” For example, when asked how she was she might reply “well I am finer than frog’s hair!”
She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her greatly including two children, a son William Kent Willcox of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Valorie (Les) Fraley of Brighton, Colorado; grandson Josiah Willcox, grandson Nathan (Sonia) Fraley; granddaughter Victoria (George) Gies; Two great granddaughters Sophia and Seraphina Fraley: two great grandsons Eli and Emerson Gies; a stepson John Condrey and his children Chris (Christina) Condrey and Megan (Jimmy) Hart; a brother Denny (Merly) Marriott of California; and extended family members. We all have loved having four generations in our family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 25 at 10:00am at the Brighton United Methodist Church located on 625 S. 8th, Brighton, CO 80601
Inurnment will take place on Monday July 27th at 10:00am at the Littleton United Methodist Church located on 5894 S. Datura St. Littleton, CO 80120.
