Sijifredo Chaparro Obituary

Sijifredo Chaparro (1970–2023)

Sijifredo--Siji for short--was born in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1970 to Everardo and Maria Luisa Chaparro. He attended Platte Valley High School before studying Electronics Engineering Technology at ITT Technical Institute, and joining the Marine Corps. Siji often talked to his children about the amazing memories he had of his time in the service. He spoke about how it shaped him including teaching him discipline and giving him the opportunity to travel the world. The service gave him many opportunities to meet great people and friends that he cherished very much. One such memory that he was proud to tell his children was of meeting Colin Powell, a man he had great respect for. Furthermore, he was grateful to gain his citizenship through the service and was proud to be an American citizen.

Siji met the love of his life, Luly, in 1993. The first time they met was at the Chaparro family restaurant, Lucerito, in Greeley. Luly worked in the kitchen and, coincidentally, Siji had come home from deployment. Luly recalls the first time she saw him; how handsome he was upon first seeing him. They quickly started dating and often double dated with Siji’s cousin, Saul, and Luly’s best friend. The two were married on February 14, 1996 in Greeley.

Siji and Luly have a loving family with five children. They first had Brandy (1995), followed by Paola (1999), then Emmanuel (2004), Esmeralda (2006), and lastly Aryanna (2009). Their children meant the world to them and he was so proud of each of his children. Siji welcomed two granddaughters, Selena and Elicia, and was looking forward to meeting his first grandson, Nico. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Papa.

Siji was passionate about his role as a senior drilling superintendent at IPT Well Solutions. He began working for the company in 2014. Siji was a highly valued employee and enjoyed meeting all the people in his field.

Everyone who knew Siji knew how much he loved going to Broncos games, spending time with his family, enjoyed time in the mountains and camping, and appreciating nature in all of its forms. When his kids were little, they often went on big camping trips where they fished trout and ate tamales warmed up over the coals.

Siji will always be remembered for his smile and his laugh. To the point of it being contagious. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be dearly missed every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Siji was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Chaparro, mother-in-law, Paula Alaniz Felix, and nephew, Nayd. He is survived by his father, wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
